How about a buck pool or contest

#1 Post by onesharpbroadhead »

Since the bow season is right around the corner - how about a buck pool - we could see how many are interested and then decide what we all want to kick in for - we could all donate a given amount of $ towards a prize that we all agree on or something. We could figure out a way to validate the kill - maybe by having it scored by an official P&Y scorer who would sign and date the score sheet - even if it does not make P&Y - or whatever anyone can think of to validate.

What do you guys think?

Big Buck Contests --
The Problem; how to judge it -- P&Y score -- most of us myself included - don't know one locally? I am sure I could research it[and find one] if required. I imagine they Charge for the service? Maybe Folks could enter their own scored deer { initialy} if it looks like they could win --get officially scored. Which Deer? Depending on where they live -- whitetail --Coues --Mule deer --Blacktail --sitka --? Where it ranks in comparison - in the book? Competition for each type depending on Members who enter? We could do it regionally, section competitions so to speak--?
Great Idea - sounds administratively difficult.

PS ---Trad Hunter could pick a Panel of Judges -- everybody submits their deer and the panel picks the winner -- on whatever rules the members agree on--

well - so far we have 3 - if we want to win a decent bow - the pool will cost about $300.00 each - ;)

come on guys lets all get in on it.

there are lots of ways we can do this - we can figure it out after we get some interest - bow season is fast approaching - lets get this together by the end of next week if possible.
