I am blessed with a 20 min drive through game rich country on my way to work. I have stalked Hogs, Turkeys and Deer with my phone camera and had some successful stalks.
This morning stalking was not necessary as the turkey were very close to the road.
I started to drive up the roads and noticed this coyote stalking.... I took a series of pics that tell the story of a still hungry Yote whose plot was foiled by a couple of busier Turks!!!

Looks like that Yote wanted nothing to do with them. They were checking that old boy out pretty seriously and I think they would have ganged up on him. Seems he decided to look for smaller game.

Re: Still hungry Coyote
Pretty cool!!
Gotta share this story though, that goes the OTHER way.......
2 years ago, I was sitting in my trees stand early morning when 2 coyotes headed my way on a deer trail. I got ready, but they winded me and broke off; headed out along the wood line. I was on a high, wooded ridge, about 30 yds. in from a pasture. The pasture was behind me; great views in most directions.......
Anyway, aobut an hour later, a flock of turkeys started cackling their way towards me also, on their morning feeding frenzy across the same ridge-----happens every day----my property by the way----quite convenient!!!! They scuffle along behind me and eventually head out into the pasture......... All's quiet......I'm kicking myself for not taking a shot on the coyote earlier--1 had a very distinctive white tipped tail------I already had 1 'yote in for the year, only a week or so earlier.....no deer that morning......then, things got interesting!!
I heard excited cackling and putting behind me. The flock of turkeys out in the pasture were riled up and starting to bunch. I finally located 1 'yote walking almost non-chalantly out in the field..head up, not really paying attention to anything---or so it seemed!! He was angling out past the flock, but the angle was s-l-o-w-l-y getting sharper........the flock started to get nervous and started heading my way, towards the woods. The 'yote stopped, looked around for a bit, then just strted trotting on an angled path towards the woods, but still at enough distance that the turkeys didnt' bolt, but were def. deciiding it was time to head for thewoods......Now, I'm thinking: turkey season is in--the're heading my way----might just have Thanksgiving taken care of!!
But........when the flock reached the woodline---there was a grey explosion at the fence-line. The flock erupted as the 'yote w/ the white- tail tip blasted out of hiding and tackled an adult bird. There were feathers everywhere!!! The bird was beating it's wings like crazy but the 'yote had it by the neck and the "casually walking" partner came racing up to help finish off the bird In just a couple moments it was over......the flock was scattered, screaming! The 'yotes trotted off side-by-side with their prize..........and I got to witness superb hunting strategy at it's best!!!!

Re: Still hungry Coyote
Thanks for the pictures and story. Sometimes the coyotes are so beautiful I don't even pick up my bow when deer hunting. I have watched a small bunch of them strategically hunt together attempting to drive a deer into an ambush by a posted yote.

Cool pics.
I have watched yotes do the same thing to deer but i was fortunate enough to ruin their day since the pushed the deer past me. They are extremely smart for sure
