Re: A little skinner neck knife.
Can honestly say that I've never heard of a rope machine before. Makes sense, but now I have to go find out more about it!
Re: A little skinner neck knife.
I made mine with gears so it twists two to one when you turn the crank.
You can make one with a couple of boards and some coat hanger. The Boy Scouts have a simple plan to make one. I'll try and get a picture of mine.

Sweet, Thanks.

Okay; mark me impressed! I also had never heard of a rope machine?? I am sure factories use them to make rope, just never really thought about it. Any way we can peep at it?
Re: A little skinner neck knife.
There's a bearing in the hand held hook that all the strands of material hook to.
And the spreader to keep everything untangled while twisting everything together.
Usually needs three people to make a rope but in the chord above, it was short enough that my wife turned the crank and I held the end and the spreader at the same time.
This is another thing that is much easier than people think.
