I find this talent fascinating. To say the least. Cant wait to see the finished product
Re: The Birth of a bow - A short Elk Seeker
Dale wanted some Gray under clear glass. I have some Spectraply that has charcoal and brown layers. So ripped a part of it off and I setup to resaw in between layers so I can use the Charcoal as the veneers.
I then cleaned them up a little using the thickness sander and then made my splices so I will have long lams.
While the splices were setting up I prepared the rest of the core. I will be making a full length taper made of actionboo.
Once I get all the lams cut, I sand them down to the thickness I need for my core in order to make the bow weight I am after. Once that is complete I am ready to glue the longbow up.

Would I appear to be coveting if I said I was a little envious, Dale?

Dale's bow just out of the form.
If you look in the background you'll see parts ready for my next build. Dave (Stumper) also wanted a 52" bow.
Cleaned off all the excess epoxy and straightened out one edge so that I can find and mark a center line. I will then layout limb shape and prep overlays.

Can't wait to see it finished.
