I happen to mention to a buddy that was going Goose hunting that I wouldn’t care to try some Goose feathers for fletching. I didn’t know what I was in for! This morning he showed up with a bag that contained both wings... from 15 Geese!
Anyone ever tried them, know how well they might work?

I love them. Quills are easier to work with and they work well in the wet weather. Makes me want to hunt waterfowl. They are great.

I was given some, but haven't fletched any shafts with them yet. I was told they are the best water resistant feather their is.

I've used them in the past, still have some old arrows with goose feathers on, they held up well. However, they are hard to find when you miss.

Never tried them, but have heard good things about them especially in inclement weather (supposedly way more waterproof than turkey)

Intresting. Im guessing they are large enough to cut with a 4 or 5 in feather chopper and right wing for right helica and vice versa ?
Re: Goose feather fletching
Hill Billy, in my limited experience, yes, you can get a 5" feather out of a single full length feather, maybe more if you chop them shorter, not sure since it's been awhile. Like all feathers, right wing--right helical, likewise for the left.

Thanks for the info. I have choppers but not a grinder. I know people who hunt geese. I may give these a try
