While reading.

#1 Post by stumper »

While reading hunting the Osage bow. Torges Quotes another book and based on this I decided that I had to read it. It’s called the witchery of our tree by Maurice Thompson circa 1878. It’s available on Amazon for six bucks and one chapter in is already worth it’s weight in gold. While you are getting ready for season, Might I suggest picking this up as a stand companion.

Here is the quote that Torges references
“So long as the new moon returns in heaven a bent, beautiful bow, so long will the fascination of archery keep hold of the hearts of men.”

Y’all have to read it. It’s magical. People simply do not write like this anymore and I have never spent a better 6 dollars.

There are a couple chapters that are technical in nature. But the hunt stories are second to none. It's probably my favorite book. It was written in a different time period though and you should keep that in mind.... once the characters are introduced you will know what I mean.
