our acorns have been dropping for a week or two, a little early. thought that they might be empty shells from all of the rain but they are good (white oaks). the deer and squirrels have been hammering them. and this will force most bear hunters to find the trees that are dropping, especially near a water source. good luck

Unfortunately if the acorns start dropping were probably cooked. The bear population is healthy for the amount of environment they have but being fortunate enough to set up randomly on acorns in the Ozarks would be a 1 in thousand chance.
Most bears here are actually taken by deer hunters that are fortunate enough to have one stumble through randomly. It’s always a gamble. The first 3 or 4 days is our best chance. The squirrels will start cutting acorns also hopefully after the first week. We shall see.

When I lived in Pa. a friend killed a bear that stayed in a big corn field. He was well fed. I got to eat some of that bear, he was pretty good I thought. My wife on the other hand was not impressed , to say the least. She probably wouldn't like coon either though.

Word is out that we have at least one barrel hit hard. Completely empty already. My partners Dad checked a couple close to home. We will check cameras and reload barrels Saturday. Hopefully I’ll have some videos to share. If I can figure out how!
