Warf Bow

Hi Sam; I have admired your work and wisdom many times on another site but have never posted anything there. I know nothing (other than what I have read from you and some of the others) about doing a warf. I haven't posted there due to the way some choose to express their opinions (strongly). I hope you are still coming to this site and that this subject becomes more active so I can continue to glean from you. There are those of us that appreciate what you have done in answering questions and offering help to others. I also appreciate how you try to show respect for even those who disagree with you. I know this is an old post but was hoping you still come by.

i too hope you can show us all you wisdom. this is very neat and would love o see a step by step on how you are building these bows. i am a old goat but am willing to learn....lol

tony. i agree with you. i too have seen other member on other site that just put down everything that others do. most of the time. the thread is for people who are interested in whats going on and some people just what to stir up trouble..

Warf bow? I thought Klingons preferred the Batlith and considered projectile weapons a sissy thing...

Warf was the name of Bob Gordon's dog. He was one of the first to start making old wheel bow risers into ILF recurves. Sam took it to a new level with new methods. Bob did a Bear Black Bear riser and Sam did a Hoyt Rambo riser for me. Sadly Bob can not do that close work anymore and Sam went back to full time police work.
It is a great way to recycle the older risers and save money for a first time ILF tinker'.

I cannot think of a better way to use a compound bow. Pretty cool, I would like to shoot one just to see how it feels, like my wood though.

There are a couple of guys over on TradTalk that have picked up the Warf banner. Also saw a Martin wood riser made into ILF. If the limb pocket angles are about 15 degrees you can just bolt on the recurve ILF limbs. It is really not a new idea, making it into ILF does give you some more options.
The Bear Black Bear, Hoyt Rambo, Proline vantage risers seem to wrk best. Some of the ILF limbs can be had for under a 100bucks. These rigs are good starter bows, bow fishing rigs, or for me a bow that I can throw in the truck and not worry about getting scratched up.
