I tried carbons, gave it six years but just couldn't quite get them to shoot to suit me. I know some of you remember when carbons first came out and were pulled off the market for use as hunting arrows? I've never read how they fixed the problem.

I enjoy making wood arrows, making new hunting arrows prior to the season is an old tradition for getting me fired-up.
I use cedar or Douglas Fir.. like to color my shafts using denatured alcohol and Rit dye.. I use a feather burner to burn my feathers, I have experimented with different length and shape's. Mostly to save on the cost of making arrows without giving up
performance of my hunting arrows.

I believe they went to using a different type of carbon material; more 'granulated' than stranded so when it broke, it broke clean and not into itty, bitty shards and splinters that got into the meat (shudder!) They also had problems with replaceable blade broadheads in the same vein (can you say OUCH?) when they first came out, IIRC

Without Graps showing the picture again. You could really do yourself some damage back then. Still can if your not careful.

I still prefer cedar and two blade glue-ons......

Me too, but I've got some broad heads you've got to be careful pulling out of the quiver in the dark. Scary sharp.
