So what does this make you Kirk; non-trad, a backslider, wrong?
It appears that you are the only one bothered about buying carbon, use what you like best and don't sweat it. I may not be interpreting correctly but it's almost like you feel bad about it or dread what us smarties might say. We're going to smart off to you either way and reguardless of what you do!

What's next Kirk ? A ILF rig with carbon foam limbs and a 3 foot stabilizer
Or how bout one of ozonics machines? Ever thought about using triple seven pellets and sabots in your muzzleloaders. The trad hunter is a dying breed. Lol

In his first pic he said " at least they look like woodies" but deep down he knows they're not!
Maybe stay sharp could figure out how to impregnate them with a cedar scent for when he breaks one
..... If he ever does!

Well now, THERE'S the boys we all know and love! Dishing out a week's ration of $h!t for a day hike...LOL!
Not that I didn't ask fer it... 8-)
Actually, I'm really good with the whole carbon thing here. I still prefer a nice cedar arrow, but they aren't so cheap to build anymore and as I mentioned, they serve a multiple purpose in this instance:
1) They fly faster and straighter out of a lower poundage bow than either wood or aluminum would
2) They withstand the rigors of an indoor range much better than cedar, and probably equal to aluminum. The concrete floors and 1/4" steel fixture protectors in the 3D range are absolutely brutal on cedar arrows, unlike burying one in the dirt in your back yard (usually no harm done other than a ruffled feather or two). I've had to permanently retire two of my custom cedars due to shaft damage from the 3D range. Yeah, I know you're s'posed to keep them in the target but hey; stuff happens.
3) Much easier to tune simply by unscrewing a point and screwing in another one. Also simple to adjust your cock feather position by simply twisting a nocked arrow on the string.
All in all they are the right arrows for the intended bow and purpose. I may be looking for some heavier-spined carbon range arrows for the other bows for the same reasons...indoor 3D ranges are not woody-friendly, so I am learning.
Now, as far as this "trad" thing goes....seriously, guys...I don't care what bow, arrows or accessories you use; whatever works best for you is the right setup. I think most of us here feel that way, all kidding aside. I also will not dispute the fact that a nice composite takedown recurve (e.g. Border or Hoyt Buffalo) shooting a carbon arrow with a screw-in replaceable blade broadhead is probably a better killing machine than a 40 year-old Griz shooting cedar arrows with glue-on broadheads in less experienced hands. My view is, "whatever works for you is right". I'm an old-school kinda guy; I like old antique things. But you ain't gonna catch me out in the woods wearing 1950's hunting clothes just for the sake of being old school. Woodies are really cool and I will always own and shoot and build them, but that don't mean I'm married to 'em.....
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

I think for other than nostalgic reasoning carbon is the only way to go followed by aluminum then woodies. The best shooting woodies I ever shot were made by Paul Jalon of elite arrows.
They were matched within 5 # spine and 10 grains weight and were as straight as a wooden arrow could be BUT they were $127.00 shipped. And I don't know about you but I get a sick feeling when I snap one off right behind the point and sniffing cedar dosent seem to help it.
The next set of arrows I get for my recurves will probably be carbon. If I get lucky enough to make me a self bow this spring I'll get me some more woodies . Speaking of old school, don't know if you fish or not but check out tenkara fishing on you tube.
