I understand that that Kirk but it doesn't change how my mind works! I worked many years in an underground coal mines and I remember well when we changed from timber to roof bolts, the bolts were supposed to be safer but it was still a hairy feeling when the timbers were gone.

I hear you there!
It's like watching a tow truck winch up a 5000 lb. rig with a tow strap...you keep waiting for it to break but it never does....

I've found the ground blinds to be my favorite. Although when I did use tree stands I was never higher than 6 to 8 feet up. Just need to be away from their eye level.
Never fear a man with many wepons. Fear the man with only 1, for it is an extension of himself.

That made me think of a guy that I used to hunt a lot with, I always accused him of climbing so high that he was out of bow range. I saw his bow go 7-8 feet off the ground but it was attached to a 40ft rope!

Ughh, not for me. I consider 20 feet nosebleed territory.Carpdaddy wrote: I saw his bow go 7-8 feet off the ground but it was attached to a 40ft rope!

I often don't feel like 15' is high enough & usually get to around 20-25" off the ground.

I have a Lone Wolf hang on stand with the climbing sticks. Not quite as quick up the tree as a climber but I can put it in just about any tree usually in less than 10 min.
