Re: Music
Ok, we could go on and on with great Blues Artists. Most of them in the past. Nothing can touch them. That's the cold brew and lounger for me after a hard day. Just want someone to join my pain after "that" day. From Robert Johnson to BB, to Buddy...so many greats in this "roots" genre. But this cat has my interest in the new era. More "pop" blues, but man does Clark Jr. get it simply because he FEELS it. If nothing else, good to see blues living in the modern era. Nothing like the past, as this is polished, but I can sure feel his style in the modern era... Enjoy again if you've seen. If not enjoy even more !

GREENPIECE?
Suppose I should tell you, I haven't touched any of my guitars banjo or mandolin for almost 5 years now.
I have a Guild 750 and a Gibson Less Paul AA that have a half inch of dust on the case. A Martin backpacker stuck in the top of my closet.
A Marshal 100 FX 2x12 amp that I keep my veg tanned leather stacked on. And a RP200 effects system that is somewhere under my bow string material.
I've just lost the wanna, what with the events in my life sense 2011. I have even lost my passion for shooting a bow. I have a bear hunt coming up in 5 weeks and I still don't shoot much.
Josh was at my house this last weekend and we did some shooting, but him mostly, I was taking pictures.
But I do enjoy posting with my Tradgan friends.

Re: Music
Great videos! I'm quite familiar with GC Jr. but hadn't seen either video. In the second one, is that Doyle Bramhall playing the southpaw sunburst Strat?
You are very correct about the current state of the blues...pretty sad, for the most part. Not to many new artists with "the feel".
Here is one of my heroes...Danny Kirwan...back around '68 trading licks with another one of the greats, Peter Green. He was only 19 at the time and had only been in the band a year or so, and had only started playing guitar at age 16.
Watch him break the high E string at around 1:50 and brush it aside and carry on unbothered...Danny had a ferocious vibrato unmatched by anyone I've seen.
Since the early 80's Danny has been a homeless alcoholic and wound up living in a hostel until a couple years ago when family began caring for him. He didn't touch a guitar since the early 80's until just recently and now plays strictly for his own amusement. He is virtually an unknown to the younger generation. One of the saddest blues/rock tragedies there is.

Doyle...that is correctomundo. Who hasn't he collaborated with in the music industry ! Doyle is king.
Thanks for sharing. Danny I'm familiar, but not of the back story. That's really tragic, but glad he's still out there and kicking it. Like I said, it's an art that never really leaves you. Jealous of you players. Killer song by the way ! Miss those days of smokey lounge, music, and the vibe. It's gone now.
Graps, yeah, sorry about the "greepeace" things. I think that was over in Europe somewhere. I'm sure all the venues have been liberalized with sponsorships. Pretty much the same over here. I have to separate the music from the "politics" or I won't survive insanity !

Maybe you are like me, Dale...I just can't get into playing when things aren't "right". Sounds like you have lost your mojo, my friend. I wish I could sit around a campfire with you and help you find it.Graps wrote: ↑Wed May 09, 2018 8:52 pm GREENPIECE?

Some nights I sit on YouTube for hours just searching for obscure music from my past. It always makes me feel better even if it makes me bawl my eyes out.

Re: Music
I think part of what adds to my depression is, in 2009 Less Paul was going to do a concert late in the year and I was wanting to go see him. He died that year before he could do it.
In my opinion he was the greatest contributor to the modern guitar and electronics and many modern guitar players have copied his style.
If you get the chance find some of his videos and compare his style to Slash, I think you will see what I mean.
This is the best beer commercial .
Another thing about Less, him and his wife Mary Ford had a bad car crash back in the 40s I believe it was, and his right arm was smashed so bad the Dr. had to fuse his elbow.
He asked the Dr. to fuse it in a 90 degree angle so he could still play his guitar.

If that happen to me, I would have been speechless.

Re: Music
One of the greats and a legend in his own time.
Any idea when that last clip was shot? Les is looking pretty young and chipper. I'm guessing early 90's?
