This I just found. Has three of my favorite guitar players.
David Gilmour might be number one in my book.
Eddy Van Halen is just a speed freak, but impressive.
BB King has the soul.
But David Gilmour can make sounds with a Strat that can be jaw dropping.

Yes, agreed. Gilmour has the touch. I would rank the solo in "Time" as one of the top 10 ever recorded.

This is an example of what I mean.
I have copied some of his style sense the early 70s when I first discovered Pink Floyd.

I envy you guys that can play the guitar. I have no musical ability at all.

Speaking of Strats...did I mention I have a '65 and a Mexican Fender Strat?

Everyone has musical ability. You have yet to discover what it involves, Greg.
Not everyone is a guitar player or a rock star. As I mentioned earlier, my son picked up the banjo for the first time 2 weeks ago and is already an accomplished player in my book.
I had a friend that couldn't play guitar to save his life. So he picked up a blues harp (harmonica) on a whim and suddenly found his voice.

If you can play Gilmour, you've got some chops...

I play a whole lot of Rory Gallagher and have emulated a lot of his phrasing into my style. It's the wild child in me, I guess...if there was ever a man who could make a Strat sass you back, it was Rory.

And here he is with his Gretsch Corvette tearing down the house:

You know, for many years guitar players, especially beginners, all want to play Smoke on the Water.
And also sense Black Sabbath, its been Iron Man. Give me a break, do you even know what a cool guitar riff is?
This is my idea of what a beginner should learn, and its simple and very cool. You know, raises goosebumps.
Billy Gibbons is another artist that I have copied a lot. That's how I learned to whistle pick.

Oh yeah! La Grange, and Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings. Both in my repertoire. Also like the hook in Just Got Paid. That's a fun one to jam with.
