More than one highly respected hunter/author has commented on the noise aspect of vented broadheads. That's why I chose the Zwickeys over a vented BH.Ole Dave wrote:I have a question, but I have no clue or information...
I've READ that vented heads often make noise in flight...
but what one reads on the internet is often highly suspect... hearing is so varied, and so many things can make an arrow in flight noisy, but has that been an issue for the gents here on TH? I'd think that important to know "perceptions" before investing heavily in this project...

Next question...can't tell from the drawing but is this a two or three blade BH?

Its a 2 blade. It was drawn left bevel but its just my first concept. The reason there are cut outs is because the blade is .080" thick. without vents it was around 360gr. Im not set on the vents yet. Anyone with ideas or thoughts please through them out there. I would very much like to make the "perfect" broadhead lol. I know thats impossible but hey I can try right? I went with a convex edge because I think it makes for a sturdier tip that wont curl.

Re: Big single bevel heads
I got some original 2 blade snuffers. They are highly vented. I dont care for them, because they loudly whistle or have a high pitched whine throughout the entire flight when shot. They fly great, but are some noisy son of a guns. I killed one dumb buck with them.... and yes I knew they whisted when I killed the buck. I had to get SOME return for my money. I threw them in a broadhead assortment box, where they remain today.....that was almost 20 yrs ago...

Sounds perfect for a woodie arrow! No Woody Weight required for a very nice EFOC arrow.Mitch Edwards wrote:Its a 2 blade. It was drawn left bevel but its just my first concept. The reason there are cut outs is because the blade is .080" thick. without vents it was around 360gr.
You could offer it in vented or non-vented. Seems like the vented version would be more time consuming, thus more costly.

Dimensions are 2.55" long x 1.625" wide. .080" thick on the blades. I dont want to reduce the width or thickness very much if any if I can help it.
I do want to say that I did not copy the Abowyer head. It looks similar but its not a copy. You all think I should give them a call to keep myself out of hot water?

There are tons of similar broadheads by many vendors. I seriously doubt that you can get in trouble.

Im shooting 400-425 gr heads. 360 isnt too much in MY opinion.Captainkirk wrote:Sounds perfect for a woodie arrow!
