Shooting A Few Arrows

#1 Post by woodsman »

I built a fire in the wood stove yesterday. The wind was out of the North so I could open the garage door to shoot and still be protected from the wind. The fire was warm, as long as you stayed close to it but it makes it possible to shoot a few arrows, go get them and then stand near the stove to warm a bit. A thermos of hot coffee helps too..

Ater a while I decide to go inside the house, I take a quick look at the thermometer, just out of curiosity and it's a balmy 5 degrees
above.

It's warmer? today but the wind is now out of the south so it probably won't feel like it. Guess I'll go start a fire and see how it works out.. If the wind lays maybe I'll go see if the predators are hungry, do a calling set right before dark.

Sound's like fun . My method is , go to the garage and shoot into the driveway a few shots and run back in the house .

I was right.. the south wind was cold and it blows into the open garage door. The wood stove made it bearable, better than sitting in the house..

I used some adhesive backed velcro to make a new shelf rest for an old Indian take-down. I got the brace height pretty good and set a new nocking point. Not sure what the poundage is but it seems pretty light, maybe 35#.. Should be good for working on some of my bad habits.

Next bow on my "to do list" is an old Bear "76er".. 1st thing is a new string and new shelf rest.

Sounds like cold weather's coming after tomorrow. Sure wish I could find a Bear grip to fit the "76er".. I got one but it didn't fit..
Appreciate it if you guys could keep an eye out for one that fits it.

No, no more, we cant take it!! By the way; I am not familiar with Bear bows, what exactly is the grip you are looking for? I am thinking about a wood handle riser, is it some type of cover?

The Bear "76er" was a metal riser take-down with solid fiber-glass limbs.. nothing fancy but makes a great bow fishing rig that water and sun has little effect on. The metal riser had a plastic snap-on grip. It would fit the hand a bit better if I had a grip for it..

I may have to post other picture just for the captain...
