Longbow designs

#1 Post by Carpdaddy »

As I am working on Marks bow my mind is already wandering on what design I should do next, so I'm asking you all; what is your favorite longbow? I would like to find some pictures of them, the strung and unstrung profile. I personally like the shrew, anybody got one of those? If you have a really good shooting and feeling longbow I would try to talk you into tracing an outline and sending it to me. I have done this before but tweaked and modified it to suit me.
Any visions?

Gotta go to work CD, but mine would be Chad Holms bows or Treadway bows by Mike Treadway. He makes a short longbow that would be a design challenge. 8-) Only problem, you would more than likely have to change the the riser designs so they would'nt shoot to the right.

I do like the Holms very well, shot one last year and yours this year, he makes a builds a nice bow. Yours was just off due to its past bad shooting habits. Mike Treadway builds a fine looking bow but I have never shot one.

Griffin bows are certainly nice also, much like the shrew, of course he once built the shrew for Ron LaClair. Do you have one LLL?

I see how you are Triple L, won't answer my question because your afraid I will want a copy of it. Just give in and mail me the bow! I just need a few weeks with it.

One of the nicer longbow I ever shot was a Treadway - of course it was 66 inches long. Wouldn't shoot a short bow - I only have so many arrows in these old shoulders.

I have lusted after the Treadway bows but never shot one. I think the Griffin or Shrew would be my top pick but never got to put my paws on one. If I could just talk the Mystery man into loaning me his for a while I would know for sure, I just can't get him motivated. I'm not even sure what he shoots, he did vote Griffin though????
