Neat idea!

I noticed at the end of shooting last night that my feathers seemed mighty close to the riser. I checked my brace height after I came indoors and, yup; it was down to around 6 inches. (Bear Grizzly recommended BH is 7.5-8.5 inches!) How it came untwisted is a mystery, but nevermind that; I read a pretty cool tip somewhere to put your arrow crest striping right at recommended brace height....then every time you nock an arrow you can glance down and see if it changed.

Neat idea but wonder about the 8" brace height on most recurves; wouldn't that be a little far forward??

Talk to me as if I were an idiot (shouldn't be much of a stretch of the imagination) Far forward of....what? On the arrow shaft, you mean?

8" should be perfect for a Griz .
3 of my Bows are setup at 8" and that's good for me . If I spread my right hand as far as I can , from my thumb to my pinky finger is near zacly 8" .
Don't hafta carry a ruler .
My long bow is 7 1/4" , my trick don't for that .
I have heard of the cresting trick before , neat idea .

Have found in the past if your string is waxed really well,"and that is quite often" to where it looks like one nice tight string. and bow is unstrung when not shooting this doesn't happen very often. ;) I do change strings every so often just so I'll have one with me that's that's already broke in. 2 cents worth.

Good idea, that's losing a lot of brace height ! Sounds ole your string might have stretched some too!

I leave several bows strung all the time during season and do loose a little brace height sometimes. I figured it was just my string builder.

That creap of the string is because most string builders don't back lay the bundles of the loops .
The original Flemish twist strings were done that way .
People started skipping that step to save time . Typical of our society now days , got to makinge things cheeper .
If you look closely at the string that Jose made for Josh , you can see that it has a diamond looking patern in the splice .
That string is back layed .
That's the reason I started making my own strings .

Well, "shame on me", but I'm shooting the same string that came with the bow. Lord knows how old it is...
I probably should have ordered an new B50 when I ordered the broadheads today. Duh.
Next time....
