Windplaning....which broadheads?

#1 Post by Captainkirk »

Been noticing in the 3Rivers catalog many of the broadheads are listed as "does not wind plane". Have any of you guys experienced wind planing, and if so, which broadheads?
Seems like most of the ones they say don't windplane are ventilated or skeletonized designs...but these are the same ones other folks warn about as being 'noisy'. I'll be doing my own experimenting on the Zwickey Eskimos I ordered and will report on those shortly......

Does anyone turn their broadheads a certain way in relation to the feathers to avoid wind planning?

When my arrows are on the string, my broadheads are horizontal or what you would call flat CD. :D

I've always heard the broadheads should be vertical, but for anti-plane, your idea makes more sense, HF.

Oh, and speaking of broadheads....

"In theory" it shouldn't matter as the arrow (hopefully?) begins rotating once it clears the riser....
