Cap/cresting paints

I read on 'another' forum where a guy says he has been using spray-on enamel (Krylon) for capping his arrows, and using Testor's model paint for the cresting. Claims it works extremely well with only a need to thin out the cresting paint a little for better flow.
I've seen the Testor's paint (used it many times as a kid) and it seems to be quite a bit cheaper than say, the Bohning lacquers from 3Rivers.
Any comments on this, pro or con?

Works great bit you do need to thin it out .
A neat trick you can do , put a coat of white and then put two or three contrasting colors in the tube , but don't mix .
When you dip again you get a 60s hippy paint job that is very cool .
You could use red green yellow . Each arrow will have its own unique look .

I was still a snot-nosed kid in the Sixties. Kinda hard to be a hippy when you gotta be home when the streetlights come on. Just sayin'...

I have used the Rustolem 2X for plastic paint to cap carbons. I crested with Pactra paints for RC cars. Then a thin coat of water based MinWax Polycrylic to protect the cresting. I have also used the Krylon paint (enamel) and the same Pactra paints for cresting.
I like the spray on paints for carbons. I still dip my woods. Lately been lazy and been using wraps on my alum and carbons. No mess, no fuss. I crest over the wrap with the same paints.
I use only Saunders NPV glue these days for all my fletching.

I make a lot of arrows for myself and others. I use stain on wood arrows and then crest them with Testors, Odds N Ends or some other quick drying enamel. Then I seal them with Helmsman Spar Urethane. I use Duco for the fletching.

Carbons and aluminums I still dip in Bohning paints and use the same Testors or other enamel for the crest. I use Saunders NPV for the fletching on these.
