In my opinion, they are a good head for a 3 blade head.
That being said, Anytime you add a blade, it effects penetration because it lowers mechanical advantage. Nothing penetrates like a 2 blade, and that single bevel opens them up better then a standard double bevel head does. That makes some great blood trails.
A number of heads will work and kill deer....but nothing available right now beats a 2 blade single bevel for penatration, and still provides great blood.

I am a big VPA Terminator fan for deer. I have probably killed a dozen whitetails with them. The bows I was using were anywhere from 50-55# and I have had zero penetration issues. Most of the arrows were stuck in the ground on the opposite side of the deer. I even hit one doe right in the shoulder using a 54# TallTines recurve with a Beman MFX arrow, 50 grain insert and 200 grain VPA screw-in. The shaft went through the shoulder and was literally in the heart when I field dressed the deer.
I am shooting Cutthroats a lot now, especially on bigger critters, but I have number of arrow set ups with the VPAs and would not hesitate to use them.

Can't really help you there. I've only used three blade in Turkey. I always use my Cliff Zwickey 2 blades on larger game and consistently have pass through. Just got back from my elk hunt and had a complete pass through on my cow elk.............well, guess it helps she was only 5 yards away.
