Getting shaft poor

Welp....im bitin the bullet again. I finally got tired of dealing with borderline stiff shafts that are a bit heavier then id like. Some of you may remember my string serving/nock point miss-hap, where I tuned my arrows to a 3/8" too high position. Since resetting the nock points, the arrows became too stiff. I already added up to 450gr point weight, and I dont want to go higher as the arrows are already approaching 900gr. I need them down to about 800-825 to match my hunters.....soooooo, sooner or later I had to get more shafts.
I was hoping for Tapered POC shafts from Wapiti, but they said 2 months out for 60/65's because of a waiting list. So, its back to Surewood for Tapered Douglas Firs. I SURE hope the diameters of these shafts are more consistent then the last couple doz. I got premiums this time instead of hunter grade, so we'll see. Odd diameter shafts make for very touchy point tapering with hand taper tools. Be building arrows again very soon.....im getting quite a stock of various wood shafts and arrows from 55/60 - 65/70.

Gee my carbons are sounding cheaper all the time! I have had some of them for so many years that I can't remember when I got them. I did finally break down and buy a dozen at the KTBA in April this year but still have a half dozen of the old ones. Those were some fine looking footed arrows you got though.

idk.... I just cant get into that much foc and heavy of an arrow. I still buy them woodcrafter 5/16 birch dowels for my bows below #47. (about $50 shipped for 200) Get quite a mix of spines, but I between the kids and I we have bows down to 20#, so all are usable. Way more cost effective for me and with a couple sets made I can get around 500 grains with a 100 grain tusker or field point. Still over 10 gpp and plenty for me to be happy.

Tony, my hunting footed shafts are fine. I didn't state which shafts im talking about, so sorry about that. These are my practice arrows that im replacing. Its my fault 100%, the arrows are still in great shape, they are just too stiff is all.

Thats the main goal James. If we figure out something we are content with, its best to just stick with it. I should be content if I dont screw these new ones up!

Found out that a local bow shop is liquidating his aluminum stock. Bought a dozen 2216 yesterday. Man does aluminum fly good. My mind is telling me to go back and buy every 2216 and 2117 he has.

I ordered shafts, and got them a couple days ago. I built one arrow up, tuning and completing it. Man, I about forgot what a well tuned arrow flys like! Im tickled!
