Is trad dropping off?
Yeah, it goes without saying things have been quiet...VERY quiet...here on the forum the last month or two. But it's not only this forum, it's most of the other trad forums as well. Pretty sure on here it's a seasonal thing...warmer weather coming, people get busy with outdoor activities, and I haven't been on the other trad forums long enough to tell if it goes that way there as well, or if the modern 'trad resurgence' (fueled by Hollyweird and other pop culture) has simply peaked and is now following the slope downhill for another cycle?
What have you guys noticed (if anything)?

Actually, the bike forums I'm on have picked up in activity; there always seems to be a resurgence when the bikes get pulled out of mothballs.Kamn wrote:I think its just seasonal because its like that on other forums (motorcycle) that I am on as well. But thats just how it seems to me

I have noticed the slowness around here especially. Not sure what to think of it.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

Dave, this is pretty typical for this forum. But the other more populated forums seem to be struggling as well, which is leading me to ask the question..."Is trad hitting a slump"?

Not in my corner! Shot three different times today, made a bow string, and strung up a shorty bow in case I get a chance to Turkey hunt from a blind any. Every break I get I'm doing something to arrows, bows, or hunting related stuff. Of course I'm weird so I don't count!

Re: Is trad dropping off?
Is it Trad Archery dropping off, or just Trad Archery forum participation? Im thinking the latter. Im sure some folks give up early on in the trad quest, but I know of a good number of seasoned trad archers that will not take part of forums any longer, just because of the usual pot stirring that goes on....speaking of all trad forums in general.
The element of surprise can never be replaced by persistence.

Re: Is trad dropping off?
A very good question, Jase.
I honestly don't know.
I know my trad participation has been severely hindered by the whole 'municipality' thing...gone are the days of shooting every night after work and truthfully, that was the biggest thing that endeared trad archery to me. Now I shoot when I can, but it's not the same.
Leave it to government to screw up a good thing.

Re: Is trad dropping off?
You may be on to something Jason. I frequent several trad sites but in most cases they don't even know I'm there because I don't often take part like I do here. Sometimes I do but always with fear of being attacked for my views or opinions. Trad Hunters are for the most part friendly, respectful of others, and of the laws. But even in these atmospheres we are bound to get some who are superior in knowledge and aim fur you to know it! So I spend most of my time gleaning from those brave enough to answer and learning what I can.
