Due to my hunting party shrinking and needing a tent to match the 2 of us versus the older 5-6 man group, I am looking to buy a tent that better fits my needs. Since I plan on hunting more and do not have as many vehicles to transport wood and extras needed to make the big wall tent real comfortable, nor want to cut wood instead of hunt, I am going to buy a Cabelas alanak tent or the bighorn tent. I am wanting your opinions on which would better suit my needs. Heating by stove is not important because I no longer plan to do that. I am going to use propane.
I want a sturdy dependable tent that makes my whole camp easier to manage for 2 guys. Has to be durable and waterproof too. Which is the best for 2 guys on extended stays in potentially foul weather. Which is easier to setup and take down while offering comfort. Your opinions are needed even if you don't have the expierence in the 2. The bighorn or the Alanak?
I love my wall tent but have to set it up by myself alot. Just 2 much work and unusd spac for 2 men and gear.

I looked at the Alanak tent a while back at Cabelas. Personally I did not think that it would hold up very well, it just didn't seem to be as near as durable as a canvas wall tent.
I don't mean to muddy the water, but have you looked at any of the Kifura tipi's. I have a friend that does gear reviews for some extra money and has nothing but good things to say about the Kifaru tipi's. They are very light weight and extremely simple to set up, and a stove can be also placed in them if you choose to later on down the road. Hope this doesn't muddy the waters too much, but I thought that I would throw it out there.

Justin, I've been useing wall tents for years & love 'em, but just recently I purchased the Alaknak for mostly bow hunting & some shoots like Denton hill.While there not a canvas wall tent, its a very well made nylon hunting tent w/ stove features. however, if you heat w/ propane expect alot of condensation inside,moisture is a byproduct of propane. I suggest reading all the reviews you can find, hope this helps. T.D.

I have tested my Alaknak 12x12 in the mts. of Colorado and it performed wonderfully!!!!! Best money I ever spent. I've had mine for about 5 years now and no complaints.

I know its been along time since you posted about the tent, but I have 2 alaknak tents 12x20 with wood stoves in them. They hold up great.
