Heck of a birthday

Had a busy day planned, it was my birthday and so the wife and I went to the lease to make some adjustments to a couple of my stands. Getting older, not as crazy with the high stands anymore. plus the eye issue will be ongoing for months or so. So we took down two 15' tall buddy stands and lowered them to about 6' at the feet. I had two trees nearby that would be covering trails better with lots better cover around them. I will brush them in better later. But then we came home, my dad met us and wanted us to go with him onto his land to look at a few things before the men come tomorrow to begin cutting the hardwood timber to sell. His 2017 chevy gas been nothing but trouble since he bought it and has been back in the dealership numerous times. It would suddenly surge or jump forward when pulling out, this was 5 or 6 feet at a time. very scary and was supposed to be fixed several times. So we turn off the road and begin driving down the old logging road. almost immediately the car (All terrain vehicle) begins surging in little nonstop surges. we make it about a quarter of a mile off the road back in the woods when it suddenly stops and says that the transmission is overheating and to put it in neutral an let it idle. Well, it won't go into neutral and suddenly we see smoke coming out from my dad's side. Just about that quick, flames begin coming up beside the window. We begin bailing out except when my dad opened his door, the flames got even worse. So I had to help or pull him out the passenger door as fast as I could. My dad had gotten burned some on his arm and his ear plus his eye brows and hair singed. About 15 minutes later, our little volunteer fire dept showed up and began battling the fire in the grass and brush around the car plus the car. But by the time that they had arrived, it was fully engulfed. My dad was shaken up but safe and so I told him that now he was rid of the stupid thing and could get a better safer one. So you say that I had one heck of a candle. So now we will make the front pages of our small town newspaper, plus a million phone calls and texts. We managed to get out a couple things that he had but it went up so fast. No body got hurt bad and we didn't end up with a wildfire to fight. Jerry
