well, i didn't get to go bow hunting until Tuesday morning. i saw a fairly sized 7 point and a small 4 that morning. i had my compound with me and didn't want to shoot them with it. so i took my recurve back with me that evening and saw a spike but never got a shot ...so, Wednesday morning i took my recurve bow back. i saw a spike and a doe but, never could get a shot. then the fun begin. i has a 150 pound black bear go in. he went almost all around me. smelled where i cross the ridge and he shot right up a tree. that was amazing to watch them climb a tree. even more when he was no more than 15 yards away doing. i was so, excited i couldn't even get a shot. arrow kept coming off my rest where i was gripping the string so tight. and i didn't clear all my shooting area before hand. and i kept hitting my tree stand and tree limbs with my recurve and never could get a clean draw. so, when he came back down the tree i still couldn't get a shot off and when he got to the bottom of the tree over the hill he went and was gone.`but, never got a shot but. it is something i will never forget and only being out in the great outdoors can you get this kind of excitement. what a fun season so far. thanks all and now you can laugh at me....lol
thanks, denny

Nice story, been there done that with the arm hitting tree, limbs, can happen with compounds heck even crossbows, first thing i do after i get settled in is try to draw my bow to see where my restrictions are. Nice season where you can deer hunt and bear hunt at same time, rich

Re: bow hunting so far
My Deer hunting has been very slow with little Deer movement. I think the warm temps and abundent acorns has muted the movement. Mosquito's are out in force.
